Configuration
Create a Windows server using Lightsail
Steps:
Step 1: Log in to the AWS console click on services under compute select Lightsail.
Step 2: Next choose to create an instance.
Step 3: Select the AWS region where you want to create an instance. Here I used Virginia Region, an availability zone near 6, If you Select Mumbai it will come with two availability zones.
Step 4: Select Windows Platform & choose Operation Version. Here two options are available OS & Apps+ OS(Pre-Configured VPS).
Here am choose Windows Server 2016 (OS Only).
Step 5: Next Choose a plan, give the instance a unique name & click on the Create button. Now successfully created Windows based server.
How to connect your Windows Instance in Lightsail
In Lightsail there are two options to connect RDP.
Methods:
· Browser based RDP
· Remote Desktop Services(RDP)
Steps:
Step 1: After creating the instance choose the connect RDP icon next your instance.
Step 2: Select the icon and go to manage it will connect with servers.
RDP Services Steps:
Step 1: Go to Networking & find your public IP Address.
Step 2: Copy your IP Address(Here IP Address for dynamic once restart server, it changed automatically).
Step 3: Go to the client machine and hit cmd mstsc in run mode.
Step 4: Paste your IP Address and click on Connect buttons.
Step 5: Enter your Credentials.
Note: Get your password, you can get to the instance management console, choose your instance, and click on show default password.
Step 6: Now you logged the instance successfully.
Attach a new disk to the Windows Linghtsail instance
Steps:
Step 1: Go to the Lightsail home page,
Step 2: Choose storage.
Step 3: Choose the AWS Region & AZ where your instance is located.
Step 4: Give a unique name and Create a disk.
Step 5: After a few seconds your disk is created on the disk management.
Step 6: Choose your instance from the list and attach a new disk to the required instance.
